The MM Story
Haus Hirt, 12th of February, 2008, the time is 23.45. The fireplace room. The kids finally in bed. A group of tired, deep snow skiers gather round: an advertiser, a musician, a caterer, a furniture manufacturer, an architect and the hostess. And next to an almost empty magnum bottle of St. Laurent of Aumann (definitely to be recommended)! a few more open questions: Where to have aholiday without the kids in Gastein? Where to recharge ones batteries or find new ideas? A place which corresponds easily to the modern health and sustainability-oriented lifestyle?
Not much later, an answer: We need a second hotel! The hostess sharpened her ears. The architect´s hands started to tingle. And then the ball got rolling.

“Take a somewhat dusty, old ski resort like Bad Gastein, add six young, creative minds, and voila, you end up with Hotel Miramonte...Their names read like a list of DJs for a very promising party including people like Architect Ike Ikrath and his wife Evelyn, the Bad Gastein hotelier who have found many fans since they re-launched the nearby Haus Hirt hotela few years ago.
Their guests then were people like Olaf Krohne of Bar Hamburg and Hotel Fox in Copenhagen, and Albert Weinzerl, architect of Hotel Cortina and the Brenner, Bar Centrale, and Rive restaurants in Munich.
Today these people are no longer guests but partners. And together they have reinvented Hotel Miramonte."
